TK Disco

I warned you about this and here it is at last: TK Disco gets an official remix comp.

TK Disco Re-Edited features pretty much the full spectrum of the type of people who work with this material today. Dimitri from Paris, KON and Danny Krivit are naturals, but the inclusion of Todd Terje and Late Nite Tuff Guy practically ensures a wider distribution for a gorgeous collection.

Dimitri from Paris works over Jimmy Bo Horne’s “Spank.” Todd Terje actually surprises with irresistibly soulful edits of two KC & The Sunshine Band tracks, “I’m Your Boogie Man” and “I Get Lifted.” I wouldn’t have pegged him for those selections at all, but he makes them flow wonderfully.

Late Nite Tuff Guy kills Timmy Thomas’ always timely “Why Can’t We Live Together.” Danny Krivit (who has worked with the TK catalog more than probably any DJ alive) provides an unthrottled, powerful remix of Gwen McCrae’s hands-in-the-air “Move Me Baby” and Ralph Macdonald’s funky “Jam On The Groove.” This whole record is a triumph.
