When I last talked to him about 18 months ago, Eric Kupper mentioned that there wasn’t a great deal of Director’s Cut material lurking in the vaults but did mention a track or two for Inaya Day that hadn’t been released yet. This must have been what he was talking about: a glorious duet between two of my favorite vocalists, Inaya Day and Ultra Naté – legends in every sense of the word – with the big top production of Eric and Frankie Knuckles‘ Director’s Cut sound. The hook is lethal here, listen once and you’ll understand why they call it that because it will lop your head off.
There are still I believe a couple of well-known unreleased tracks out there that people always show up in the comments section to ask me about; now there’s one less, and it’s a worthy addition to Frankie’s later remix work. “Over Me” was released on August 25, which was Frankie Knuckles Day. It’s on our calendar now and I’m behind any effort to concentrate the mind and spirits of the masses on the legacy and memory of one great man.
