South African natives Black Coffee and jazz laureate Hugh Masekela have a gift for you: “We Are One” on Vega Records. This soulful explosion is a directional expression of two talented artists who combine music and positive vocals for an influential end result.
The vocals are the highlight of this song. Masekela delivers a message of inspiration, reflection and guidance. Louie Vega’s Roots Mix is soothing and relaxing, complementing the efforts of Masekela’s vocal. The chants of “wake up … we are one” inspires one to groove continuously while nodding along in sync. “We’ve got to live together” is a motivating vocal force inside of the Culoe De Song mix, which is my favorite.
All versions are soulful. Actually, Black Coffee’s Original Demo and Culoe De Song’s mixes are more up-tempo than Louie Vega’s mixes. Make no mistake: all versions are enjoyable, as this potential anthem captures the soul and spirit of dancers and the creation of poetic language.
To take the rhythm even further, the package also contains extra bonus beats with Ritual and Satva DJ Tools. All mixes are distinctive in their own right, providing opportunities to hear the vibe from different angles.
