Music Submission Guidelines

5 Magazine reviews worthy and/or noteworthy House Music releases.

What kind of music do you review?

Underground House Music, Techno, and the like. We do not review hip-hop, jazz, R&B or folk music.

When should I send you my tracks?

Music should be submitted 30 days prior to the first release date. Exclusive “promo” periods on download sites count – the “release date” for us is the first date it’s available for sale to the public.

What do I need to submit?

Please submit the following:

  • Full release. No soundcloud streams, no links to traxsource, youtube, etc.
  • Artwork. Release artwork & artist photos cleared for print preferred.
  • One-sheet which includes the following: artist name, release name, track names and release date. The release date is the most important part. Submissions without an accurate release date included are discarded.

Where do I send my tracks?

Submit them via upload service to terry@5chicago.com. Tracks sent as email attachments are discarded.

Please note that this is for music submission only. If you add this or any other email address to your newsletter/mailing list, it will be unsubscribed, marked as spam and any future submissions will be discarded.

Spam: Not Even Once.

What format do you accept?

For promos, mp3 is fine.

Why do you have all these rules, man?

Each month, we receive in excess of 700 releases per month and review less than 30. Organizing 700 submissions is difficult enough; without standard guidelines, it’s impossible.

Okay I followed this and you didn’t review my music, you disgusting hater.

We review less than 30 out of 700 releases submitted to us each and every month. If we don’t catch you the first time, hopefully we’ll catch you the next time around.
