Later this week – on Memorial Day weekend to be exact – thousands of Techno and House fans will descend upon the Motor City for the 10th anniversary of Paxhau’s Movement Festival at its iconic riverfront park, Hart Plaza. Making their first ever Detroit appearance, electronic music pioneers and 2014 Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award winners Kraftwerk will be headlining along with Dubfire, Modeselektor, Richie Hawtin and many more.

“Looking back at how much the festival has grown over the past 10 years has been an incredible experience,” says Paxahau founder, Jason Huvaere. “As the festival landscape continues to evolve, Movement’s founding principles and creative vision remain true to the music culture that inspires us.”

The over one hundred or so acts can be found in 6 stages: the Movement Main Stage, the Underground Stage, the Red Bull Academy Stage, the Beatport Stage, the Made in Detroit Stage Presents, and its newest addition and another nod to its plethora of local talent, the Opportunity Detroit Stage.

Some of the other notable acts (out of too many to name!) are the always popular tag team duo of Green Velvet and Claude Von Stroke, DJ Pierre, John Digweed, Kenny Dope, Loco Dice and MK. And not to be left out are the homegrown stars such as Juan Atkins, Kevin Sanderson, Mike Huckaby, Amp Fiddler, Carl Craig, Eddie Fowlkes, Seth Troxler and DJ Godfather.

As with many festivals, Movement has incorporated Yoga into their programming, this year in conjunction with Detroit Yoga Lab. Free one-hour sessions of Yoga will take place that Sunday and Monday of the festival at the Opportunity Detroit Stage. Beginning at 12:30pm, instructors Najee Robbins and Imani Smith will be leading the sessions along with music by Jon Zott.

Movement Festival will be from Saturday May 28th through Monday May 30th. It will be held in downtown Detroit’s Hart Plaza. This is all ages, however children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult. You can get your tickets here.
