Agitprop: Jellybean Benitez

From the interview in the July 2012 issue of 5 Magazine:

I grew up in the South Bronx. Most of the older kids wanted to be bouncers or drug dealers or pimps. Meanwhile I’m over playing 45s in the corner when they tell me, You know, in the clubs we work at, the DJ has TWO turntables and the music never stops. That blew my mind, and when I saw it I was totally amazed. I was never going to be big enough to be a bouncer, but I could be a DJ. –Jellybean Benitez
