Friday November 7, 2014, 1833 and Primary Presents Mostly Disco feat. Aeroplane with Redux DJs
Primary Night Club
5 W. Division Street
In just a few years, Vito De Luca, the Italian-Belgian producer behind Aeroplane, has established himself as party-starting DJ, remixer du jour, with his spacious cosmic-disco remakes of Grace Jones (William’s Blood), Friendly Fires (Paris) and Sebastien Tellier (Kilometer), and, via his own keyboards riff-based melancholic beauties like Caramellas, or My Enemy, leader of the nu-disco and Balearica scene. Aeroplane’s debut album, We Can’t Fly, was an in-depth trip into the previously mentioned balearics with a big dose of AOR and Moroder-influenced disco, which was more a statement than an attempt to conquer dance floors, though the perfect remix cast did fill up for that job (The Krays’s remix of Superstar, Breakbot’s remix of ” Without Lies ” or Rex The Dog remix of “My Enemy”).
Now that our appetites have been whetted by those brief, tantalising excursions, what delights await us for the long-haul flight?
As a DJ, Aeroplane has never been at the mercy of traditional bpms, and being free of “the dancefloor pressure” has given Vito additional license to slow things down and look around, finding the perfect blend between club music, pop hooks, and spaced-out soundscapes. Making your ass shake more than your fist pump, as his first “In Flight Entertainment” 100% exclusive compilation demonstrates.
The start of Vito’s own label Aeropop will see many collaborations with big names and a fresh, exciting, variety of music come out, allowing Vito to flex his classically trained musical muscles in all directions, just like his touring schedule.
REDUX is a dynamic duo comprised of DJ CT of U R WE Productions and WYSER of Custom Vibes Chicago. Together they have forged and created a mean sound staying true to their roots and reviving a pleasure filled aesthetic like none other. Ranging from diverse musical backgrounds including punk rock, indie, disco, house and techno, these two pump up their sets to encompass it all and get any crowd moving to the beat.
Created in early 2010 the duo was formed as a side project with the purpose of combining their respective sound and audiences and simply to play great music. Their energy on stage and behind the decks led to myriad residencies and high profile gigs alongside the likes of James Murphy, The Twelves and The Magician to name a few. Today, with the introduction of their series of mixes called “The Flight Sessions” they’ve established themselves as a hot tag team duo with any genre under their belt. Having recently launched a monthly radio show called Space Disco they are using the platform to discover and play the endless sound of disco and its variations. They’re audience is expanding and currently on the agenda is remix work and original production. Keep an ear open!
