I can now breathe because the 5 million parties I was involved in for the past 3 weeks have finally ended. I still have more to come, but at least the pace has normalized to a doable level.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT Wednesday night was The White Party myself, Lugo Rosado & Phatman threw to get Lugo’s Wednesday nights at Tumbao jumping. You guys have got to check this spot out… it’s gorgeous! The owner Louis is the nicest guy ever, and early Wednesday morning he went shopping and decorating with us so we could turn his Puerto Rican restaurant/club into a white haven. The DJs that night were Jesse Portillo, Eddie A, Phatman, Rees Urban and of course resident Lugo Rosado.
I was so excited because as a host, everyone knows how I love to get on that mic DRUNK. Well Lugo gave me my own CORDLESS MIC, so I felt like a 50-year-old nun given her first vibrator…exciting!!!
Thank you to photographer Steve Starr for letting me act like a slutty teenager!
After Tumbao we head to Ohm to check out LA’s awesome Scott K and his girl DJ Kerry.
For those of you who haven’t yet, go to SSRadioUK.com, a 24-hour 4-channel dance music site with some amazing talent. The guys who run it (Phil the Deep House Cat who lives here), Matt, Dave and Nick (who flew here from the UK) collaborated with 5 Magazine to throw a weekend’s worth of post-Lollapalooza events. Thursday and Sunday the SSRadio boys got down at Betty’s, and on Saturday was the big event at Griffin Lounge with Jon Cutler (NY) and John ‘Julius’ Knight (Miami). The new club was very high-class and bougie, so it was an interesting collaboration of ‘that’ crowd and the strict Househeads. Jon and John got down, and we all had a vodka-infused blast!
After that party we close out the night at Martini Ranch next door, and by then everyone is quite incoherent. While everyone crashes out John ‘Julius’ Knight and I decide to hang out. I cook him a bacon cheeseburger (Luigi my dog ate most of it), and we proceed to gossip and drink until probably 11am. This is probably why I don’t have any brain cells left, and I’m quite amazed at my ability to spell.
Thank you to the SSRadio crew for an awesome weekend, you guys totally rock!
